
Experience the sport of sailing at Abbotsford 12ft Sailing Club. The club offers opportunities to Try Sailing and to receive continued training in sailing for young and old.
Our Try Sailing program is kindly supported by Club Five Dock and Canada Bay Club via CDSE category II funding
Club training Optimists kindly provided by the Boating Industry Association and Yachting NSW
The club provides several programs to try and continue sailing
- Try sailing at Abbotsford (8 - 14 years)
- After the initial 8 week course, you can join our Junior Fleet racing
- A further program to learn more about sailing is through the Discover Sailing Day
Basic Requirements
- Children need to be able to swim and must be confident in deep water
- Children will het wet and so ... - shorts and rash shirts are ideal, soft soled footwear that get wet is a must (eg wet shoes, old sneakers) and sunscreen. It is also recommended that a change of clothing and towel are brought each day.
- This course is limited to 10 participants and all boats, instructors and safety equipment are provided
- Parents/caregivers are invited to stay and participate by helping their children to rig and launch boats and learn basic techniques too!

Junior Racing
Children from 8 - 14 yr old who have developed confidence in sailing are encouraged to join our Junior Fleet to continue the development of their skills and apply them to racing. Participants can bring their own a boat or can lease a club boat (if available).

We regrettably can no longer offer an Adult Start Sailing program.
Opportunities for youth (from 15yrs) and adults to start sailing are available throughout the season. Experienced members will run 4 week courses to introduce participants to the basic skills of the sport and encourage further participation in club activities and racing.

The club will be holding a seriens of "experience sailing" days for local community members at times during the year. Participants will be able to get on the water in one of our club boats with an experienced club member.
These are a great way to try the wonderful sport of sailing and discover our familiy oriented and volunteer run club.
